Scott Walker Facebook comment on Supreme Court Ruling for Gay Marriage.

I don't have Facebook, GF forwarded to me. I've attached it to this post.

Unelected judges... yes because the SCJ's should be popularity contests to the people rather than just congress. And law should most definitely be determined by how it would affect the voters.

You know between Huckabee and Walker and other nutjobs who are going to voice these asinine and deluded views, is that we as a society and those in the media who have the power, do not give them the verbal tongue lashing and logical repudiation they deserve.

Information A Game of Thrones Season 6(?) Finale **Spoilers**
Posted by: IotB - 06-15-2015, 02:43 AM - Forum: General Discussions - Replies (2)

So the final episode happened and we are for the most part at the end of book 5.

As a book reader, I had endured so much torture by GRRM Ramsay, that when I read the Caesar Death Scene of Jon Snow I didn't even care anymore. But the series has again failed to think things through. In the book, they don't kill Jon until he responds to a letter from Ramsay (Snow) Bolton about Stannis's armies being crushed. Ramsay sends this letter because Theon escapes with Fake Arya and there has been a bit of killing going on, particularly by Mance Rayder and some wildlings. See the Boltons are loosing their minds a bit because Stannis mustered his forces on his way down to Winterfell with northmen by the advise of Jon Snow. And while Stannis's army is immobilized due to winter weather, they are close enough to constantly pound the war drums which means poor Ramsay can't sleep and everyone in Winterfell is at each others throats.

Unfortunately we do not know the success or failure of Stannis's army at Winterfell. At best all we got was a letter from Ramsay calling Jon Snow out and threatening to come to Castle Black and do horrible things. So Jon finally gives in to what his heart wants and announces to the Night Watch that he's taking an army of wildlings down to Winterfell etc... It is then that the watch decides that Jon needs to be put down. In the books it's not just Jon's enemies but his friends as well that murder him.

I didn't much care for this episode either. But I'm not going to bother voicing why. Smile

Information HBO GoT > ASOIAF?
Posted by: IotB - 05-14-2015, 05:39 PM - Forum: General Discussions - No Replies

The other board is down currently. So I figured I'd respond to the thread here.

First I want to lay the foundation of some things.

1. When I finished ADWD I said it was a bad book and I have done nothing but criticize GRRM for falling in to the Wheel Of Time trap. I called Ceorl "Ramsey's Creature" because he was disagreeing with my disapproval of books 4 and 5. I have said GRRM sucks because he has no editors to keep him on track and the story moving. I have also said that if GRRM rewrote the first book now that we would have 9 PoV chapters to cover Catelyn's journey of leaving Winterfell and Arriving in King's Landing.

Why do I say this? To dismiss notions that I am somehow advocating absolute book adaptation to the series. To dismiss the notion that I somehow enjoyed reading 2800 pages or whatever for almost zero main story arc advancement.

2. Is HBO GoT > ASOIAF? In some ways yes, in other ways no. It's a very complicated question and valuation that draws indifference out of me. Rather than says Yes or No. I question the necessity of some of the changes. One of those being Semly Barristan dying. Another being the events of Jon, Stanis and Melissandre. That Jon is leaving Castle Black to rescue wildlings when in the book the wildlings came to castle black as an army and refugees fleeing the Others. That Jaime is going to infiltrate Dorne with Bromm and every scene of this will be, for me anyway, a consideration of what is not being adapted from the books and shown in the series.

Now just because I say that does not mean I want an entire Season of Brienne and Podrick in the woods hunting for Arya and Sansa. Which let's be honest, a faithful adaptation would be damn near that. It does not mean I want to experience every agonizing moment of Tyrion travelling being bored out of his mind and being a character out of his element, doing interesting things and being an interesting character.

What it does mean is that I'm trying to thoughtfully and honestly answer the question and weigh the differences and changes between the books and the HBO Series.

Now if you want to engage me. Please engage the arguments I actually provide. Do not say "Books 4 and 5 suck" as if I don't know, or as if I'm somehow defending them as being anything other than crappy books. Do not say "Selmy has to die because Strong Belwas is not there to eat the crickets!" as if the two have anything to do with one another or as if that justifies Selmy's death.

When the old forum is back up, I'll double check to make sure I'm addressing the arguments being pushed forward. Seemed like a Dog Pile because of Poster, not argument, in that thread.

The turrets on this thing are huge.

Like 100k mass. I think the most I've reached is like 7k with my entire ship design.

Anyway I figured I would share as the ship itself is very impressive.

Alas poor planet, I knew thee well.

Completely stripped bare. It took a while too. My world harvester has 421 salvage beams, at 100 length each. But it was worth it as it was full of resources. I probably got 1 million of of the main ore's and crystals that were on it, and probably around 500k of the non-primary. I'll post a screenshot after my refinery is done processing all the ore and crystals.

Here is the after in capsules after harvesting the planet. Average quantity of capsules was probably around 75k, with 150k being the high end. I also have like 18 million crystal composite, and 13 million metal mesh.

Just an FYI. Perhaps Star Rangers want to give it a try, or Xavori?

House of Cards Season 3. *No Spoiler Review*
Posted by: IotB - 03-08-2015, 03:18 AM - Forum: General Discussions - No Replies

Well I finished watching House of Cards Season 3 and found it to be like A Feast for Crows by GRRM. I'm not sure what Xavori saw that he thought was awesome about it. But I feel that the show has lost it's way and lost all the magic and charm of the first season. I don't think there is a single character I actually care about anymore or a character story I wish to share a journey with.
